On October 2, 2014 the University of Oregon and Nike will continue a tradition of supporting the fight against the opponent that touches everyone: cancer.

The Ducks will take the field wearing a special edition all-black Nike Pro Combat uniform system with pink accents that was designed to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, exemplifying the spirit of teamwork and generosity that enable the organization to battle against cancer.

Oregon Ducks Play 4Kay Pink Helmet promotion

Last year for the 2013 Oregon Ducks Play 4Kay game, the team took the field wearing limited edition pink helmets to support the fight. Although this year’s helmets are black, the University of Oregon and Nike have generously donated 14 of the 2013 game-worn pink helmets to be awarded in a Kay Yow Cancer Fund Oregon Ducks Play 4Kay promotional drawing. The number 14 is significant in the fight against cancer as it is the jersey number Coach Yow and all three of the Yow sisters wore throughout their high school and collegiate playing years.

Supporters, donors and fans are encouraged to participate and register for the promotional helmet drawing. Although not required, a donation to the Fund is encouraged as the Kay Yow Cancer Fund continues to support research in the fight against women’s cancers. Each participant is eligible to register only one time.

Cancer Fund

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007 from the vision of the organization’s namesake Kay Yow, former NC State University head women’s basketball coach.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved, and unifying people for a common cause.  Coach Yow knew that if motivated coaches, their athletes and a dedicated community came together, they could enact meaningful change on and off the playing field. To date, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has supported over $3.93 million in women’s cancer research and related programs focused on women’s cancers. Visit KayYow.com
